Module 4 Lab: Incubate
Part 2
Part 3: Incubate
Part 4
Reflection
Conveniently, there was a 60 degree day in February recently and I was able to enjoy walking outside with sunshine. As stated in the article, a survey of research suggests that light mental activity produces a stronger incubation effect than either rest or intense mental activity because it occupies the activity will occupy our conscious mind just enough to keep it away from the project it just got stuck on.
One way I try to plan is by getting a jump start so I have time to brainstorm and debate my ideas. This process seemed similar in that I was allowing myself time to slow down the process, think about the details and ask myself questions. Above is a screenshot of my original notes in purple and the notes I added in pink are from my revisit of the problem after my break. I'm hoping that this incubation period will continue to be a useful approach while working on my problem of practice - especially with spring right around the corner!
